Name: Roshan Rodrigo

Current position: Mechanical Engineer - Structural

Degree: B.Eng (Mechanical) Hons.

Opportunity: Since starting with QR National, I have been matched with a Senior Engineer mentor and completed a 6 month rotation throughout QR National departments that has broadened my experience.

Challenge: I have been involved in major engineering projects such as procuring our new 3800-class electric locomotives, designing new generation coal wagons, and analysing rail bogies for internal customers. I have also travelled to QR National sites around Australia working on a compliance project.

Development: I completed the Graduate Development Program that included a Grad Trek and a series of workshops and business rotations. I was able to visit key QR National sites, ports, and coal mines to understand QR National's role in the coal and regional freight supply chain markets. QR National also supported me in achieving my chartered status as an engineer with Engineers Australia Professional Development Program.
