Recruitment Process
Step 1: Application completed and submitted.
Step 2: Shortlisting process where panel verifies employment eligibility of applicants.
Step 3: Information session are held for applicants at the location marked on their apprenticeship application. Candidates will be responsible for their own transport to and from the information sessions.
Step 4: Applicants undertake the Numeracy and Literacy assessment required by their chosen apprenticeship.
Step 5: Applicants undertake the VTS assessment required by their chosen apprenticeship.
Step 6: Candidates will be interviewed at the location marked on their apprenticeship application. Candidates will be responsible for their own transport to and from the interview.
Step 7: Candidates successful in meeting assessment and interview requirements will undergo reference checking and medical assessment to determine whether they are fit to undertake genuine requirements of the apprenticeship role.
Step 8: Candidates who successfully progress through the reference check and medical assessment will be notified and offered an apprenticeship with QR National.
Step 9: Successful candidates provided with a QR National employment contract.
Step 10: Apprentices are invited to events leading up to the commencement of their apprenticeship (Uniform fittings, meet and greets) to welcome them to QR National.
Step 11: Apprentices commence induction with QR National.
Step 12: Apprentices commence work with QR National.
Throughout the process those who are unsuccessful in moving to the next step will be advised via email.

Literacy and Numeracy Testing
As part of the recruitment process for QR National apprentices you may be required to complete online Literacy and Numeracy assessments. These assessment are designed to evaluate your current level of Literacy and Numeracy skills. Please see the attached document for more information regarding online Literacy and Numeracy assessments.
VTS Testing
As part of the recruitment process for QR National apprentices you may be required to complete VTS testing. VTS (Vienna Test System) testing is used as part of the recruitment process for many roles within QR National. The testing is used to evaluate a person’s fit for a role, particularly for roles in which safety is paramount. Please see the attached document for more information regarding online VTS assessments.
