Traineeship Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a probation period during the traineeship?

Yes.  A probation period is part of all traineeships, and is included in the length of the Training Agreement. It is a trial period for both you and your employer. For Traineeship, the probationary period is usually 90 days.

What if I am not available to attend a testing session or interview?

QR National will endeavour to accommodate you with another time. If this is not possible, you may need to make yourself available at the time specified. You will need to discuss this with a recruitment consultant.

What if my application is unsuccessful?

You may ask for feedback on your application.  You are also welcome to apply in subsequent years.

What traineeships does QR National offer for women?

QR National encourages women to apply for all traineeships on offer. There are no gender restrictions in any traineeship QR National offers.

Does QR National pay relocation costs of new trainees?

QR National encourages applicants for positions throughout Queensland, regardless of where you are currently living, although it is up to the individuals to cover their own costs of relocating to another centre.

Are trainees offered a position with QR National upon completion of their traineeships?

Trainees can be offered employment upon the completion of their traineeship; however, this is dependent upon a number of factors including specific business requirements at the time the decision is made.However, QR National does not guarantee permanent employment at the conclusion of contract for traineeships.
